In May 2008, I wrote about Hillsdale High School going solar. Now several other schools within the San Mateo Union High School District are following suit. Savings are figured to be more than $1 million a year, which is a lot of change for this district that has had a history of financial problems. Construction won't begin until 2011.
One wonders if curriculum will be developed around this. Several local community colleges have beefed up their solar installation training courses in recent years. It only makes sense.
